    man i hate to be the debbie downer but I thought Zombie's Halloween was a piece of crap. No where near the elegance of John Carpenter's original.


    Paranormal Activity was disappointing. Did anyone else find the main characters totally annoying? The second the girl was like, "oh i was haunted when i was 8 too" I just turned off... she wanted attention, that was it. She whined throughout the entire film and her boyfriend was a tool.


    I'm kind of tired of the "it's real but it's not" horror subgenre. Blair Witch was terrifying because it was done so well everyone thought it was real. These new ones like Rec, Quarantine and Paranormal Activity are so glossed over, so much that that contain actual movie stars!


    I second the Dawn of The Dead remake.


    Sorry I'm a film major so I'm really critical of movies haha.


    The Box looks creepy.

    I don't / can't do horror - but LOVE Event Horizon! "Sunshine" has a similar feel though not quite as intense.


    Anything with creepy children I just cannot cope with - I made it through The Ring but not The Grudge, and wouldn't touch the original Japanese versions!


    For those more inclined to blood-n-guts, try the Korean films Oldboy and Lady Vengeance (there is another in this trilogy which I've not seen and can't remember name of), or Ichi the killer.


    Tim Burton is also ace

    If anyone is looking for a bloody movie, the Japanese flick Battle Royale is kinda crazy. Some definite Tarantino influences and vice versa says the man himself.


    French thrillers, go with 'Inside' (so so bloody) or 'Haute Tension'.
