When you add butter to hamburgers even though its completely unnecessary.

Actually, absolutely necessary if pan-frying burgers. Coat the outside of the burger with butter before frying it. The butter caramelizes faster and adds kind of a crust that helps trap more juice inside the burger...plus the taste is divine.

I'm trying to convince my husband that walking 2.5 miles from our house to the concert venue where DMB will be playing in June is better than driving 2.5 miles and sitting in traffic, because at least we'll be moving. He remains noncommittal at this point. I figure, why not? I can run (well, jog/wheeze) 3.1 miles for exercise or a race; walking 5 miles with a 2-3 hour break at the halfway point ought to be pretty easy!

Everyone seems to think this. I don't think two to three miles long, after having hiked 13 miles roundtrip with a friend of mine. After that, my confidence in walking anything half of that just skyrocketed.

When I visit my brother in Chicago I try to convince him that walking 1 mile is worth not taking the car. I have yet to completely convince him.

However, he was ok walking 3.2 miles to the beach and 3.2 miles back this past Sunday. When its in the 80s in Chicago in March, how could you possibly resist?

To me, anything less than 5 miles one way is walking distance.
