Bwaaahahahah. So I was talking with our 2.5 year old daughter about her friend's birthday. I mentioned that winter is coming and after winter in a few months, it will be her birthday.

She was suddenly alarmed and declared, "I don't want cake! I don't like cake!"
"Honey, for your birthday, we can eat whatever you want. Don't worry."
    "I want stwawberries. Birthday stwawberries."

    Ahh, my primal girl.

Rescued a very young, affectionate and emaciated kitty tonight that showed up on our porch. I was so proud to have real cream in the house to feed him, he scarfed it up and seemed very pleased.

    Something is happening, y'all.

Last night, two different doctors discharged two patients (one with diabetes, one with heart disease) with instructions to follow a "carbohydrate-controlled diet." Both doctors used the exact same phrase.

I almost fell out of my chair the first time, and when the second one happened you would have had to have picked me (and my jaw) up off the floor.

I've worked in medicine for 25 years, and I have NEVER heard ANY doctor at ANY hospital I have ever worked at say such a thing.

I think the tide is finally beginning to turn. RAVE.

Don't get too excited just yet. I Googled CCDiet and found this (true, it is some improvement):

    Carbohydrate Foods
Starches, fruits and milk are sources of carbohydrate in the diet. A serving of these foods contains about 15g of carbohydrate, explains the American Diabetes Association. Serving sizes include one slice of bread, 1/3 cup of rice or pasta, four to six crackers, a 3 oz. baked potato, 1/2 cup of canned or frozen fruit, 1/2 cup of beans or starchy vegetable, and 1 cup of milk or yogurt.

The American Diabetes Association says food labels can be used to determine the carbohydrate content of packaged foods. People reading labels need to pay close attention to the serving size and the total carbohydrate.

    How Many Carbs?
People following a carb-controlled diet can start with 45 to 60 g of carbohydrate per meal, notes the American Diabetes Association.
