    Question Conventional Dairy Milk?

    If one uses milk as part of their diet and only has access to conventional, homogenized, pasteurized milk is it best to still drink whole fat milk or would it be better to drink reduced fat/skim and augment it with a "healthy" fat?

    Reason I ask is because I like to drink milk and have been using Horizon Organic whole milk with DHA (basically have to go black market to get raw milk anyhwere around here so not a steady supply). My concern comes about from whether or not the pasteurization process damages the existing SFAs and MUFAs in any way.

    Since the protein and carb/sugar profiles are identical and the net caloric difference comes stricly from the lower fat content, I'm wondering if going with the reduced or skim versions and adding the "lost" fat back in with coconut milk might be a better idea.

    I can only speak from experience, but I would go with the higher fat milk every time

    Stay away from milk - it has high IGF -1. It's for a calf, not a human...

    If you're desperate for milk, have cheese or full fat Greek yogurt instead.

    No. That's not the same thing at all, neither in taste nor consistency. It's like saying you should eat raisins when you're hungry for grapes, or pretending beef jerky is the same as a steak dinner.

    Whether you should drink milk or not is a personal decision, but if you decide to do so, I would recommend drinking full fat as is.

    Hey, in all fairness, I did include the word DESPERATE. If you're desperate for steak, and all you have is jerky, you're probably gonna have some jerky.

    I don't know much about full fat greek yogurt. What makes it better than milk?

    Its deliciousness!

    Go hunt down some full fat Fage Total, it's wonderful (make sure it's not 2% or 0%, it will just say Fage TOTAL on the package, and that's it)

    Sorry, I meant to ask why is it better for you than milk - as a substitute. Just volume?
