    Who eats Insects here?

My local Whole Foods Market are selling insects for cooking (Whole Foods Market: Natural and Organic Grocery).

I have never ate insects, but I guess you can't get any more Primal than that!

So who eats insects here? If you don't, are you willing to give them a try?

Cockroaches, anyone? NYC are filled with them!

I've had insects before. They don't really taste of anything, other than crunchy. If properly cooked, they are nutty and crunchy, and not bad. Stay away from soft bodied ones, and juicy ones, they have a stronger flavor. Cicadas are pretty good, as are grasshoppers and crickets. Not a fan of ants.

Does shrimp count? I refer to them as the cockroach of the sea.

I have not tried, but would be willing to try grasshoppers, cicada, and maybe ants. Grasshoppers would be my first choice. They actually look kinda tasty.

Oh wow! Just saw this. I would probably be willing to try her food, as long as she makes it for me the first round. I am open minded about it, but not sure how I would honestly handle it.

The brains she made look so incredibly yummy to me. I don't know how she made brains look and sound appealing, but she did! lol

I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but I day dream about Diana Renata cooking for me.

Nashville is going to have our 13 year cicada plague in May (it's ridiculous when it happens- so many cicadas and so much noise you can hardly hear the person next to you!) so maybe I'll "harvest" some and fry them up!

Along with this: does anybody here know how to raise insects the proper way for human consumption? I'd like to try it but I don't want to get sick (I remember hearing you could get parasites or something).

I'd like to start a yellow mealworm colony, they look yummy
