Primal Fuel

Hey guys. I have to write a persuasion essay and I picked the above mentioned topic. Could you please send me some material? Of course I am doing research on my own, but I figured any help you more experienced primals could give will surely be useful. Also, our professor encouraged us to debate on our topic so we can develop a very strong opinion, so what better place than here?

    Thanks!

Raphael: I'd start by getting "The Vegetarian Myth" by Lierre Keith, either from Amazon or from the library. That will be a great jumping-off point.

Primal eating in a nutshell: If you are hungry, eat Primal food until you are satisfied (not stuffed). Then stop. Wait until you're hungry again. Repeat.

What better place than here, to debate and hone your arguments?

How about a vegetarian/vegan forum? There -- not here -- is where your views will be challenged. Just be polite, genuine, and rational, not snarky.

I'd also pick up some books that argue the veg point of view in a logical, scientific fashion. All veggies are not deluded, hippie wackos -- best to be be prepared to deal with their best defenders.

    Thanks for the suggestion, BarbeyGirl.

This is going to be one bitch of an essay to write! Going against common wisdom requires a lot of solid evidence.

    Good luck!

I'd advise keeping it relatively simple / straightforward - at least as you begin writing - then you can form your argument and really make sure it's watertight.

Speaking from experience, I do/did have a tendency to want to throw in all the aspects I'd researched even slightly, and then get floored by a daft question that hadn't occured to me!

If you find Dr Eades's blog, he has 2 sections on "Are we meat eaters or vegetarians?"

Wow thanks! That's a heck of a lot to read, but I'm sure I can extract a few things from there. Really great.

Basically I am going to write about how meat consumption and a diet high in fats do not have a negative impact on health, as common wisdom dictates.

I could also write about its impact on the environment and the ethic of killing animals, but the health aspect is what I'm more knowledgeable of.
