Does anyone else NOT drink alcohol???

I tell you, between my friends and co-workers i am surrrrrrrounded by so many people who DRINK all the time. They go on about 100 to 400 dollar tickets from weekend drinking... then they go on about hangovers and being sick.

I don't drink alcohol... ever... i never have seen the point, even long before paleo!

Why drink something that tastes terrible, makes you fat, and makes you sick...

    I'm a 25 year old male and i just don't understand it...

But what's funny is that friends BINGE on this crap all the time and act like it's okay but thumb their nose anytime I eat something so UNHEALTHY as delicious BACON! Hahaha jokes on them!

You're not alone, I don't consume alcohol and never have, 45 year old male. At first it was a religious thing, mildly reinforced by the family but not dogmatically so. Now it's just part of who I am, nothing against it, might even partake some day, otherwise...meh.

This is the kind of statement I take issue with: “Why drink something that tastes terrible, makes you fat, and makes you sick...”

Tastes are obviously subjective, I find some alcohol tastes REALLY good, case in point:

    -Malbecs
-gin with some lime squeezed in
-guinness (oh noz carb/gluten overload!) but an old favorite.
    -baileys (don’t judge me!)
-coronas, oh sweet, sweet summer beer

There will be some folks who prefer white wines, or scotch or whatever, stuff I don’t personally find to be tasty, but obviously tastes vary from individual to individual.

Makes you fat and sick? Come on THP, you’re smarter than that. Your friends binging on it is obviously the reason they’re fat and get sick.

I'm with THP. I, too, think it smells and tastes awful. I had some years and years ago, and immediately spit it out, due to its epic nastiness (same with coffee, but I like how coffee smells, go figure)

Which further proves that tastes vary from individual to individual.

First (and last) alcohol I ever had was the wine at my first communion back when I was eight. I'm going to be 20 in a week. I just don't see the point really. Not that I have a problem with other people drinking - it's their choice, not mine. It's not even like I'm legal anyways, though that doesn't really stop people my age lol.

Some tastes awful, some is great. That said a $400 bar tab is just insane. Then again, if you have that much disposable income more power to you. Personally I enjoy the occasional beer, glass of wine, or scotch. That said, I have only been drunk once, but, yeah, what happens in Korea stays in Korea.

I look at it as an rare indulgence but respect those who do not touch the stuff.

I'm a 21 year old woman, and basically don't drink. Maybe two gin/tonics every month or two. Yeah, I can take it or leave it in general. ... also, a family history of addictive behavior and alcoholism makes me a bit unenthusiastic about it.
