I saw another thread here after Mark's post about posture which linked to an article on pub med called "Instinctive sleeping and resting postures: an anthropological and zoological approach to treatment of low back and joint pain" by Michael Tetley

I'm going to post the link in a separate post, since some of my posts with links are flagged as spam and only I get to see them

Oh there's nothing like finding a soft patch of grass for an afternoon nap. We used to sleep outside all the time when we were kids. There's something about that fresh air while you sleep that makes you wake up feel so rested.

Some of the best nights sleep I've ever had were when I was camping at festivals! I'm not sure if it was to do with being on the floor or with nature, or just because the days were long and tiring...

Nice link. Some of the positions in that article look familiar -- from people passed out at parties, crashing on the floor! Thanks to that alcohol they certainly seem to be able to get in touch with their instincts and find a position that allows them to sleep extremely soundly, often well into the afternoon...

On a slightly more serious note, I think being able to get a good, comfortable sleep on the floor is a great skill to develop, you never know when it might come in useful, like when you stay over at a friends' and there's no spare bed....

F that. I sleep on 100% latex and it's the best thing ever.
