    Ok .... Is it a grain? a seed? Most importantly is it primal/ paleo??

    It is a seed. A grain is a seed, but quinoa is not technically a grain, just a different kind of seed. But it is a seed and can't be eaten raw so it manufactures stuff to damage the gut, namely saponins. Not paleo, but apparently a better choice for a cheat than most things. Even sprouted it hurts my gut.

    Surprisingly, (or not surprisingly) things like amaranth and buckwheat also fall in the same category.
