Help a skinny-fat female build muscle!

    Shop Now
So I've been on Primal for about a week now with my FitDay average stats looking like this:

    Fat: 60% (102g)
    Carbs: 19% (75g)
    Protein: 21% (78.1g)

    I am a 23 yo female, 122lbs and 5'7''

I started the Primal diet because I considered myself "Skinny Fat". While I do not know my official body fat percentage I know that I have very little muscle.

I do not necessarily want to lose weight, but to lower my body fat percentage and increase muscle. Am I on track with my FitDay stats? Also, is there a website that measures body fat percentage fairly accurately?

I appreciate your help, folks! GROK ON!

If you're trying to gain muscle, you may want to increase protein and decrease the carbs. If you're trying to lose body fat as well, try limiting saturated fats for the first month -- your body probably has plenty of it stored right now.

Your body will build/maintain the amount of muscle it needs. If you are not exercising your muscles by lifting heaving things or sprinting, your muscles will have no reason to build or stay big. When I moved to Taiwan I lost about 40 lbs in 6 months or so, but I wasn't lifting or sprinting, and now I'm fighting to rebuild my strength and muscle mass.

Personally, I recommend the book "Starting Strength" by Rippetoe, especially if you want to make sure your form is perfect.

    This ^^

Your body will not add muscle if it doesn't need it. Switching your eating habits to PB/Paleo will definitely help you lose BF, but you *must* inflict damage to your muscles or they will not try to adapt by becoming bigger/stronger.
