I know that some are not so good, even adulterated with other kinds of oil: but how do you know which ones are good? I have a can of Filippo Berio, but now I have found out that it is not really EVOO. What about Lucini? Is that a good brand?

That is type. It is different from brand.

I'd check chowhound - few posts on that forum about high-quality Olive Oil brands.

The article says to choose a local or "domestic" brand.

I am using this. I endorse it, though I feel like a snob. Extra-Virgin Olive Oil (Robust) | Classic Cooking Line | Maison Orphée

I am having a hard time finding a "domestic" brand. I know that California Olive Ranch is supposed to be the real deal. Here in Houston, apparently some HEB stores have it, but not all.

Any other domestic brands that are to be found in grocery stores?
