I wouldn't do this. Every time I start with just a single bite of a cheat it goes into an uncontrollable binge.

This bread is made from coconut flour and flax seeds:

As another poster mentioned a lot of these recipes that replace high carb items are usually quite calorically dense. The above bread recipe has 10 eggs! I haven't tried it yet.

Here is a recipe for some bread I believe would be pretty close to primal approved and it is delicous!

3 tablespoons almond meal (or 2 tablespoons almond meal and 1 tablespoon LSA (linseed, sunflower seed and almond meal)
    25 g melted butter
    1 egg
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Combine all ingredients together and pour into a microwave safe sandwich sized container. Cook for approximately 2 minutes on high, remove, then cool. When cool, slice lengthways through the middle to make 2 slices. It is so yummy with butter and scrambled eggs

Thanks Tarnip. Also as you are from Oz I believe the tablespoon in Oz is 20mL - in the U.S. its 15mL. So 3 tbs is 60mL. Is that right?

I would suggest having some real artisan sourdough as part of your 20% - Udi's is great, if you have access to them. Wheat isn't that scary once it's been soaked and fermented, but unfortunately most commercial "sourdough" is barely a step above Wonderbread.

I also find that having another kind of starchy carb (quinoa, tapioca, potato, sweet potato, chickpeas, lentils) now and then pretty much eliminates my desire for bread and pasta. I know none of these foods are considered optimal by Primal guidelines, but if they can stop you from eating wheat, it's still a significant reduction in harm.

Think of bread as an addiction you need to kick, like cigarettes. (js290 already linked my article on the subject.)

Remember all the yummy things you can eat now that you couldn't before, because they were "bad for you". And start eating primal with other people: that way you'll associate primal food with good memories, not social isolation.
