A metallic tea filter like this one is useful to keep the meat particles out of your saved bacon fat.

I use a coffee filter rubber banded to a mason jar... I'm ghetto like that.

What's wrong with having tasty morsels of bacon meat in the fat when you re-use it?

If those bits are exposed to air, they can become moldy over time. You probably wouldn't want bits and pieces of old fried egg in your bacon fat.

I use my tea strainer, then eat up those goodies. I would think a paper coffee strainer would soak up too much of the fat.

I've used this method before, but it seems that eventually the fat stops making it through the filter and just sits there, mocking me. I've tried microwaving to raise the temp and this helps, but not much. Any tips?
