What is the deal with soaking walnuts?

I thought walnuts were supposed to be primal and good for you. I keep reading that you need to soak them. Do you mean soaking the shells or soaking the shelled nut?

So, once they are soaked how do you store them? Are they easily perishable then and do they get soggy?

You have to dry them after soaking. If you don't, they will spoil pretty rapidly. You can do this in an oven set to lowest temperature or in a dehydrator.
