Newbie having trouble keeping supplements down without starches

    Primal Fuel
Hi there! I am new to PB and have been loving how I feel so far. One issue some of you must have struggled with: I have always taken supplements on a full stomach and now that my stomach never has that heavy fullness that comes from a starchy meal (which is wonderful), I can't keep my supplements down. I have tried spacing them out throughout the day, which is helpful. I am still on the hunt for something I can eat to help my gut work through the ones that are harder to manage. It has always been an issue, so I don't think it is the particular brand.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and knowledge to help me out!

Try taking them at night before you go to bed, with LOTS of water. That's what helped me.
Primal eating in a nutshell: If you are hungry, eat Primal food until you are satisfied (not stuffed). Then stop. Wait until you're hungry again. Repeat.

So...eat some starch? "Starch" by and of itself is not bad for you, but can be if it comes alongside a slew of anti-nutrients and gut irritants, ala wheat, rice, corn, etc.

Eat a sweet potato. It won't hurt, I promise.

Sweet potato - and all better! Thanks for helping me to find such a gracefully simple solution. Sometimes the desire to do a good job just knocks the logic out of me.

Actually you have a lot of choices apart from sweet potatoes . Tomatoes , green peas , carrot , kidney beans , all contain adequate amount of starch in them . Cooked plantains are excellent source of starch . I came across this link which i hope you find it helpful Its all there in this link , and starchy vegetables are also called "carb" vegetables as they have a high carbohydrate content .

So helpful - I'll try beets with lunch today. It's fun to have a list of beautiful veggies to play with and a reason to focus on them once each day. Thank you!

I actually handle supplements much better due to the fat content of the meal. Sweet potatoes would be perfect, though, if you are having trouble. Someone posted the way they like to eat their sweet potato is mashed up with sour cream and a little cayenne pepper and let me tell you it is heavenly!!

I am with healthy11 on this one. I do much better with supplements now on this diet. It makes sense since most vitamins are fat soluble and they go better with fats opposed to carbohydrates.

People say I am on a "crazy" diet. What is so crazy about eating veggies, fruits, seafood and organ meats? Just because I don't eat whole wheat and processed food doesn't make my diet "crazy". Maybe everyone else with a SAD are the "crazy" ones for putting that junk in their system.
