OTB my toothpaste has xylitol in it. And my gum. And I use it it tea sometimes.

Also of note: dont let the puppy eat your gum when you leave it on the table of you will have a lovely experience involving a dainty poodle, hydrogen peroxide and a mop. LOL.

Well shoot, I wish I had known all this before I had my amalgrams removed! Just had my last one removed and replaced with porcelain (partial crown). It's highly annoying to me that insurance pays 100% of the silver fillings but will only pay half for composite or porcelain (my insurance anyway). Makes no sense. My dental office is silver free and they won't do those anymore. They did use a rubber dam during the procedure and were diligent about suction so it seems like they were being careful.

Last year I was part of a local campaign to stop our city from flouridating the water. I learned a lot about how dangerous flouride actually is, and we actually were successful in stopping the water flouridation.

I do use fluoridated toothpaste, but wouldn't like to drink fluoridated tapwater. Mind you, it's probably full of lord-knows what else!

As an aside, my gums are a lot quicker to heal since going primal (and I'm not even very good/strict) - since having wisdom teeth out I've developed a gap just the right size to catch meat / veg fibres. A few days ago something obviously got stuck as the whole gum was inflamed and painful. One rinse with anti-whatever mouthwash, and I thought I'd washed away whatever it was, but was expecting a week or so of soreness.

The next morning, everything was fine!

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there are oral bacteria that feast on protein the way plaque bacteria use sugars? I'm just wondering what effects could be caused by meat fibres getting stuck all the time!
