    1st time grass fed

    Primal Blueprint Expert Certification
    Being primal for about 4mo and reading about grass fed beef I broke down (I'm a cheapskate) and decided to give it a try. Went over to TJ's and picked up a pound as well as a pound of regular ground beef. Both 85/15. Made simple burgers out each and fried each in it's own cast iron pan with a little bacon fat.

    The grass fed cooked faster, was juicier and cut very easy with edge of the fork. The reg was drier (maybe from cooking a little longer?) and took a little effort to cut with the fork. Now the taste, the grass fed was moist and unbelievably flavorful, immediately reminded me of fresh beef on my grandfather's farm in Hawaii as a child. One bite was all it took, the grain fed was dry, tough and flavorless. Stopped the comparison and went back to the grass fed burger....and savored every morsel then licked the plate.

    I will not be buying regular beef any longer.

    You're tempting me (also a cheapskate) to give it a try!!
    I just bought my first vat o' coconut oil yesterday and had quite a bit of buyer's remorse over it...

    Kitoi, that was my experience as well -- all of it. I am actually now disgusted by the taste of CAFO meat and will not go near it. I can tell immediately. I am also a cheapskate, but this is WELL worth it to me. The way I look at it, my thrifty ways elsewhere make it possible for me to buy quality meat.

    Why the buyer's remorse?! It's amaazing.. even if you don't use it for cooking/eating, I use it as a moisturizer, too. Put it on your face!

    ok - that part about grass-fed being more flavorful sold me --- I'm giving up my cheapskate ways and buying grass fed this weekend. If spouse would allow me to buy a deep freezer I would buy alot more at one time but that's another story.

    And you're just talking about the taste comparison. If you want added motivation to continue buying grass-fed meats just research all their health benefits.... Have fun:

    I pick up about two grassfed sirloin/NY strip steaks a week from my local Whole Foods and they're absolutely delicious.
