One of the other students did. There was a lot of head bobbing to the eating less meat is good for you statements all around. I blocked a lot of it out, I think PTSD. :-/

I used to stand up more for this sort of thing, and I did discuss the not eating grains either this month or last month's class (which was part 1), mostly because there was one other person who brought it up as well and I was backing her up. I also spoke up during the cholesterol question to mention that it's the TYPE of LDL that matters, not just LDL, that cholesterol is needed in the body as it heals issues and we'd die without it, and that HDL was the most important factor, especially in women as higher HDL is the only factor in cholesterol that has been shown to be any kind of a reliable indicator for women.

If I'd had more information in my head about the China Study I would have said something, but I haven't read that stuff in a while and I didn't have enough information at hand.

Last month there was the "calories in/calories out" statement and the low-fat meals being the way to go-- again. I just ignore it because it's my last class, I'm burned out, and I'm starting to think that nutrition is going to be the way we finally see natural selection fully realized in our society. I don't want to get in the way of that.

Reminds me of sitting in constitutional law class and the class going on about what "pursuit of happiness" meant and taking a slant against property ownership. I went into a speech explaining the role of Lockean philosophy and the various mixtures added to it that was the basis of the American enlightenment. Long story short; the Professor stuttered and stumbled (this was the kind of prof that was always right and walked around with a stick up their arse) to get a response and the students just stared at me point blank as if their heads exploded. I got the only A in the class and it wasn't from coursework. I highly recommend you learn The China Study: A Formal Analysis and Response Raw Food SOS: Troubleshooting on the Raw Food Diet and apply it in class.

Well, I was granted access to the microwave briefly. At least I have some leftovers to get by on.

I was listening to NPR (National Public Radio) and they were talking about obesity in the US and how people were not getting helped by doctors when they go for checkups and such. GMAFB (give me a f#cking break)! Do you a) really need to have a doctor tell you you are fat and unhealthy and b) since most doctors know next to nothing about how to help fat people except give drugs or do surgery, do you really expect much help from 98% of the doctors out there?

The mirror and scales don't lie. Until people take their own health into their own hands, CW will continue to rule the day and people will continue to get sick and fat (er) in this country. Don't look to the CW medical profession for the answers unless CW answers are all you want.

I was fat through high school/college and it never really dawned on me, believe it or not. Somehow I was deluded into thinking I was normal. I think it just came from a culture of people "respecting" obesity as just a matter of difference, not disease. Wish someone gave me a wake up call earlier on.
