I understand that legumes and beans are not recommended but how bad in your opinion is eating some chickpeas in homemade hummus?

    bad.

    very bad.

so bad it should be in detention.

try almonds instead. you can soak them, or use blanched almonds, or almond slivers, or whatever, they make freakin' awesome hummus, and won't be nearly as carby. I still wouldn't eat them regularly, but almonds make tasty hummus indeed... sunflower seeds make merely 'edible' hummus.

I can't think that the very odd indulgence will cause major trouble. Having said that I have chickpeas, lentils, split peas etc in a cupboard from my pre Primal days and I haven't touched them. Can't bear to throw them out though as I really used to love them. I plan to use them up gradually; give them a good long soak to almost sprouting stage and just use a few at a time.

Why not eat some hummus and see how you feel? Everybody is different, and it's important not to get too trapped in dietary dogma. If you feel fine, I don't think there'd be a problem with eating it every once in a while?
