I like coffee for refreshment . i think when you work 8-9hr with computer you need 7-8 coffee for new idea and refreshment.

I am on day 3 of no coffee(i already failed as I had 1/3 cup of whole beans french pressed today)...i had to (headache and grogginess was so severe), plus a busy day ahead of me at work. Now i am just going to taper off and hope to not need it anymore. The reason I think this will be easy is because I am witnessing firsthand the physical dependence my body has on caffeine......I do not like the idea of a physical dependence. So cold turkey was a no go, but I think tapering off will help. Just like switching over to primal, i think my body should adapt sooner than later ....hopefully
I've been on a master cleanse for 6 days now and I haven't had any coffee and I drank at least 24 oz a day 5 - 6 days a week and I haven't had any effects from going cold turkey. Not even a headache.

you should try replacing it with decaf; same enjoyment no addiction, no raised cortisol levels for the next 12 hours.
Decaf is contaminated with nasty solvent residues. Why poison yourself?

Lots of extreme comments in this thread. Coffee has been shown repeatedly, particularly in the most recent studies, to be somewhere between benign and beneficial. Ironically, for many people, it is their single greatest source for antioxidants. I drink it half caff and half decaff. If you buy Swiss-processed decaff, there no "nasty solvent residues."
It's easy to demonize coffee, but the best independent research doesn't justify doing so. Be careful reaching conclusions.
