Can someone give me a quick low down on the health benefits of IF? I am relatively new to Paleo/Primal and am considering incorporating some IF into my lifestyle. CW had always said to eat 6 meals a day and when the body doesnt get its food on time it immediately resorts to starvation mode and holds on to all body fat & resources as long as possible (and starts breaking down muscle to give it glucose to run on).
What is the counter argument to this "wisdom"???

The way I understand it is this:
When you eat (no matter how primally healthful the foods), the machinery of digestion has to respond by doing the work of digestion. One of the by-products of cranking the machine is the production of oxidized biochemicals, which we can think of as biologic "rust." If you give the machine regular rests, you diminsh the incessant production of these oxidized molecules, thus reducing the rate at which your body "rusts." I might hazard a guess (propose a hypothesis) that this is the mechanism of life extension in the animal experiments of IF.
