    Exercising before breakfast

    I had a check up with my doctor today who is a staunch believer that breakfast is an essential part of good health-and I'm not a believer in that. I skip breakfast, exercise and then have lunch and dinner.
    I just read this study done on the topic if anyone is interested in reading the article on it. I'd also like other's input on the topic in general. I'm sure it's been covered here before, just looking for some fresh thoughts on it especially since Mark's article today is on fasting/skipping a meal.

    Technically, whenever you eat your 1st meal after a fast, that *is* your break-fast. I say turn the word-play to your advantage. I always eat breakfast. I just eat it around 2pm, give or take a few hours.

    I have breakfast everyday sometime between 11am and 1pm, i wake up at 7
    I didn't like the rules you gave me, so I made some of my own.

    Same here, today's breakfast was a rotisserie chicken compliments of A&P at 2:30 pm.

    breakfast was at 1230 after getting up at 630. Fried eggs, ranchero sauce, and bacon.

    Same here. I usually have a coffee after 30 minutes and I don't eat until lunch time. At one point I did try eating breakfast (CW: Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper) and I immediately started putting on weight, I also found that it increased my appetite during the day. No, the later I eat breakfast, the less I want to eat. And I have often exercised fasting, it's more comfortable, I get cramps if I exercise on a full tummy.

    Breakfast is overrated. I look at it this way:

    CW: I have to eat breakfast before I go to the gym
    PB: I need to go to the gym before I can have breakfast

    Dunno about you, but I'm a whole lot more motivated to go work out if I'm not eating until afterwards!

    I am in pretty decent shape by most standards and I train three days a week for 30-40 min at 6am after having not eaten since 6pm the day before and I don't eat until noon after my workout. Essentially I fast for 18 hours and train after a 12 hour fast and I have never been in better shape. CW can kisss my ass.

    I can see how people who are addicted to carbs need breakfast to function (Maple Syrup! Bagels! Cereal! Oatmeal!) - but for everyone else yeah - not so much.

    Even when non-primal I ran in a fasted state. When I had to do PM runs, it was never the same as the early morning ones, performance-wise and fun-wise. I feel light and airy if fasting, and I bet you notice that too.

    It occurs to me now, that I used to gorge on hummus every evening, hours and and hours after the strenuous AM runs. Its probably all that fasted state exercise that allowed me to get away with that. That article's an interesting one...
