Her body does not process out the alcohol and for some reason the effects are much worse.

    It is basically like this:

1 sip with food and she is okay
2 sips she starts calling everyone dude (tipsy)
    3 sips = drunk
    4 sips = hospital

a sip being far less than a mouthful...kind of like when you sip a hot drink so you don't burn your tongue.

she found this out when she was 17 on a school trip to Poland. Took one shot of vodka and ended up in the hospital with alcohol poisoning/getting her stomach pumped/almost dying.
somehow I manage to leave my intelligence and decorum at the door wherever I go. I doubt your journal will be an exception to that - not on the rug

Really sorry to read about your hearing Canio! That sucks, particularly given that you're a music fan. I presume you've looked into other factors like the relationship to diet etc.? My eyesight improved since I changed my diet, so anything's possible
"I think the basic anti-aging diet is also the best diet for prevention and treatment of diabetes, scleroderma, and the various "connective tissue diseases." This would emphasize high protein, low unsaturated fats, low iron, and high antioxidant consumption, with a moderate or low starch consumption.

In practice, this means that a major part of the diet should be milk, cheese, eggs, shellfish, fruits and coconut oil, with vitamin E and salt as the safest supplements."

Well, I have been primal for about 3 years (with some time here and there off the wagon) and my hearing continues its decline. It is mainly on the right side though. So the next step is an mri/ear-nose-throat specialist to see if there is something else going on. We'll see. If nothing else I am going to demand one of those huge brass ear trumpets and wander around saying "AAAAY Sonny? What did ya saaaay?" while tilting my head dramatically.

Glad to hear about your eyesight. What do you think prompted the improvement?

Have you looked into though? There might be a correlation between specific foods and hearing. If the loss of hearing is to do with inner ear nerves, then there could be foods that help... As much as I like the idea of you looking like an extra from The Simpsons

I really dont know... I've changed my diet several times in teh last year. Going from Vegan to LC-VLC, then high everything, now Peat. The common denominator is cutting out junk food and eating animal protein again. I know that low carb isnt for me though, so I'm sure eating better quality carbs has helped too.

Hmm..no, I have never really thought about foods and their relation to ear health. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the idea. I'd have never thought of that.

Yup, cutting out the junk makes a world of difference. I wish more people would figure that out.

Apparently our pastor is about the same way. He's told us that him not drinking is not a religious decision, but a health one. He's a big guy, it would take half the church to carry him if he drank 2 sips of beer.
Most people don't realize how much energy it takes for me to pretend to be normal.

If I wanted to listen to an asshole, I'd fart.

OK not making light of the allergy over all but that made me literally laugh out loud.
