Nah, I had the word "almost" in there.
Most people don't realize how much energy it takes for me to pretend to be normal.

Independent, but known to vote libertarian when pissed in the hope that one day enough of the people like me actually win one for the libertarians. Not knowledgable about politics in general, just so youse all know.

I get conflicted a lot. Parents were losers when it came to money, so we lived off the government dole, which I, even at a young age, was smart enough to be grateful for - apartment, heat (Ohio winters be cold), gas money...

Went to Germany to make something out myself straight out of high school graduation - socialist system paid in 100% full for a tonsillectomy and braces - teeth were actually so bad that the German health care system of the '80s and '90s deemed it a medical necessity - couldn't make that happen over here. Paid a lot of taxes, percentage-wise, but it pleased me as a lot seemed to go right - sweeeeet public transportation, for one, and even though the percentage was up there, my gross was not, even though I put in looooong, honest hours at work for years.

On the other hand, you can't crap in Germany without prior approval and constant monitoring. When I married, it was super clear that the style of man I married would be miserable in those conditions, so I returned to the US.

We homeschool - Germany puts those parents in jail currently if they do not relent (illegal in that country).

I used to be a Latter-day Saint, and whatever you think of that church, boy do they believe in getting your finances in order and taking care of your business yourself. Now I attend a Unitarian Universalist church (not a member) and I have never met a bunch of raving socialists in my life, outside of Germany. Hubby would be a pariah if they didn't like him so much.

So I see-saw on a lot of bigger-issue stuff because I have seen several sides to some things in my life.

I have a mantra that I have spouted for years... "If I eat right, I feel right. If I feel right, I exercise right. If I exercise right, I think right. If I think right, I eat right..." Phil-SC

"A government big enough to give you rights is big enough to take them away." I forget who said it, but they were right.

but I bet he never invites you over, elitist that he is.
somehow I manage to leave my intelligence and decorum at the door wherever I go. I doubt your journal will be an exception to that - not on the rug

I'm the same but in different ways. I guess the easiest way to say it is fiscally conservative and socially liberal. I don't understand how Republicans want the government out of their churches and pocketbooks but wants in people's marriages and bedrooms. I also don't understand how the Democrats can scream about the government interfering with choice but has no trouble putting their hands in my wallet. F off both of you.
