I caught the little fellow and we had a bit of "snake education" day... and then I took it far away to some park land for release.
And a kiss on the flat little head for good luck before I sent it off.

Snakes were absolutely not allowed in the house growing up- Mom was terrified of them- but Dad and the boys would catch a black snake every summer and keep it in a cage for a few days. They would have kept them longer if they'd ever gotten one to eat for them. As for copperheads- that's what the machete on Dad's tractor was for- if he didn't get it with the mower deck.
