Exactly. I heard those before my folks let me watch the disney versions (twisted, huh?) and then wondered why they prettified it. For gods sake, if you're gonna make it more "kid friendly," at least keep the damn moral of the story!

Most kids I know (thankfully few) like blood, guts, gore, and the bad guy getting hacked to pieces. Why mess with a good thing?
somehow I manage to leave my intelligence and decorum at the door wherever I go. I doubt your journal will be an exception to that - not on the rug

Mythology, fairy tales, religious stories, they all fell into the same pool of "tell me a story, all nasty and gory. " Pissed the hell out of my grandmother when I failed to see the difference between the 3 when I was about 6.

I always enjoyed the stories that my relatives would tell of people losing limbs.

Well, aren't we a fun bunch, and I wonder why I never get invited to dinner parties

I never get invited. The hubs gets more invites than I do. He's the social butterfly married to an anti-social chick. Where did I go wrong?

Pfft, dinner parties. "quoit roight, quoit roight, cheerio." I hate'em, I have to stifle my humor and most of what crosses my mind for the conversation.
Game Nights and get-togethers are entirely different. Those are my territory. Given the right company I can become extremely introverted, given the wrong company, I become extremely introverted.
