Well, one CPR class down, one to go. Food so far has been an apple (honeycrisp) and crabby goodness - scrambled crab? Eh, basically a crabcake without the cake part scrambled in a pan. I should have added eggs to it. Oh well, next time. Tonight I think I will go with the curried fish soup I wanted to make last night and didn't.

I tend to prefer Fujis, Galas, and Granny Smiths. I stay the hell away from the so-called "Delicious" family, because they ain't.

I actually found "Paula" apples around here and they were delicious...of course. :P

Braeburn and Jonagold are the kid favorites here. Gala and Fuji taste good, too, especially when the first two aren't somehow available/in good quality. Granny Smith for apple pie (shhhhhh... I didn't really say that...)!
Mixed apples (of mostly non-Delicious varieties, around six or seven different kinds) from our local orchard make the BEST homemade applesauce. Mine is so thick a spoon stands up in it when cold. There is a pot cooking as I write...
I think there is an underground resurgence of heritage apple varieties going on, and it can't come too soon. Naiadknight has it exactly right - "Delicious" apples of any color suck.

Galas are the best apples. They are the only ones I will eat(and this is from the chick who doesn't really eat fruit).

I like Pink Lady and Honeycrisp apples.

And you should share the recipe for the crab cakes that weren't.
