I knew some cool and intelligent folks read this journal. I need to steal your collectables

    (yes, even yours Dave)
somehow I manage to leave my intelligence and decorum at the door wherever I go. I doubt your journal will be an exception to that - not on the rug

Thanks for the recommendation Patrick. I'll add it to the list once I've finished The Hunger Games series (just finished the first book). I tried really hard with the first Prince of Nothing book you recommended but I never made it past about a third of the way through.
This review summed up my thoughts exactly...

In addition to providing five appendices, Bakker attempts to make his complex world clear to readers by filling the prologue and opening chapters with the names of characters, gods, cities, tribes, nations, religions, factions, and sorcerous schools. For many readers, this approach will have the opposite effect of clarity. It's like demonstrating snowflake structure with a blizzard.
I may go back and have another go later.

Yeah, the first 50 pages of Bakker were a nightmare, I thought. Everything flowed well for me at about the halfway point. Honestly not sure why I bothered to last that long, but very glad I did. He's by far one of the best writers I've encountered in any genre. The man can write humanity.

When they start shooting each other, real progress will have been made.

Sorry, dude. Can't call off the zombies. The part of the brain with the homing beacon rotted out.
