Honestly, the only thing that's worked for me is learning to cook well. Grain and sugar-based foods are hard to turn away from largely because of their convenience and tastiness, so you need to outcompete that. If your new "diet" isn't equally or more delicious and satisfying than the one that's killing you, of course it's bound to fail.

I highly recommend checking out Matt Stone's 180 degree kitchen blog. While he does use legumes and grains, you can learn some good techniques.

I try to drink coffee instead, tea, water, water Metamucil added ... a lot of free calories drinks or food
Are some of the " free calorie drinks" artificially sweetened sodas or beverages? If so these could be causing the craving for food...I also wonder if you're getting an insulin spike from the SF gum...

Next question, dairy, how much are you consuming? It might be contributing also. Here is an excellent discussion related to this: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum...439#post338439

I think I got the answer for me, I switch from multiple meal schedule to 3 square meal per day, and if I got a big and real hungry feeling I eat an egg or sardine can. It seem to work for now. If I know I have only 3 meals a day, I feel more guilty to add a lot of snack then when I eat 6 to 8 little meals. And it help me to control my overall calorie intake, and know what, every time I eat now I feel completly satisfied and I got a really intense feeling of body temperature increase that I associate with thermogenese and fat burning by metabolic increase. By keeping my food choice primal, I don't spark my insulin. My weight and over look seems to get better, less weight and less fat.

    Thanks all of you,
Eat a mammoth for breakfast, eat a sabre tooth tiger for dinner and eat a squirrel for supper !
