Just chiming in to echo, well done "catching" your binge and being firm AND compassionate with yourself as you got back on the horse. I think I shed a single tear at the sight of that yummy chocolate and maple almond butter going in the garbage...

    Stats as of 3/1/12:
    5'10" female, 38 y/o
Currently 140 lbs., approx 25% body fat
WEIGHT GOAL: lose a bit more body fat and tighten up the rear end...basically, I want to look great naked. Everywhere else is looking great, but my ass/hips/thighs are being a bit stubborn. TMI?
    DAILY MACRO TARGETS: Cal: 1,857. Protein: 100g (400cal). Carb: 75g (300cal). Fat: 128g (1156cal).
EXERCISE GOAL: incorporate 2-3 strength training sessions and 1 sprint session per week.

Haha, I shed a tear too.

Man, I have been MIA for the last few days- it has been extremely busy with our season really getting underway. But I have some exciting new things planned so this is just a short little reminder for myself to start posting again tomorrow. Not a new challenge, because I don't want to be as strict, but I do have something fun and exciting to work towards! I'll give deets tomorrow when I get back on the journaling horse too haha. PEACE

This has been a seriously good journal BYD and one that I campn really relate. You could have been describing me for half of your journal. Great layout and really easy to follow. You did a great job for the 30 days and the binge just means you still need to stay in control, which is what I have learned when I "fall off the wagon", but you recovered well.

After a bad day today (and I really need to learn to deal with my stress triggers, which includes insomnia which results in bad sugar cravings for me), I had planned on keeping a personal journal, but you have inspired me to keep a journey online here. I will need to have some rules as well, as nuts and fruit are a slippery slope for me.

Well done! It has been really worthwhile reading through the 30 days, and I hope don't mind if I use a similar format that you have used!

CPB- i really appreciate it! My goal was to not only help myself (hold myself accountable) but hopefully help/encourage some other people in the process so I am glad that I succeeded. You should DEFINITELY start a journal on here. It is so great! Let me know when you do and I will definitely follow it! I am actually going to keep this thing rolling and try to not make it a strict challenge, although that was fun. Now it will just be count downs to events...so here goes.

Well, I have been super busy lately with lacrosse and we are leaving today for another road trip but I am going to try and get back to posting pretty regularly (besides this trip, but I will update when I get back because I keep a personal journal too).

So, I used to play lacrosse in college and I was on the US National training team for a year and a half. Unfortunately, as I have said before, I tore my ACL. Because of that, I didn't try out last year, and a number of different circumstances (especially my knee, but also my new job, moving out to cali etc.) are going to prevent me from playing. So, as an extremely competitive person, I have realized that I miss training for something. Having something to keep me motivated and challenged athletically. So I signed up for a Warrior Dash the other day! But not just any Warrior Dash- it is in Whistler, British Columbia on August 6th! I cannot wait. I am moving out to Cali in June. As a coach, I get the month of August off. My boyfriend and I are going to drive up the Coast from LA - stop in San Fran to pick up my best friend, then hit up Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver before we get to Whistler for the event. I am extremely excited and have already started "training" although that doesn't really include all that much different from what I already do just now I will also add more running in. It is just nice to feel like you are training for a purpose though. So I will let you know how that goes. I am also thinking of doing a 5k here in Maryland in May.

    So back to journaling!

Day 1 of 138 until the Dash: Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Wake@ 5:45am for early practice! (7 hours of sleep but slept like a rock!)
Practice with the team @ 7am - did some scrimmaging and running around for about 30 min

Breakfast @ 9am: Turkey leg yummm

    Workout @ Noon - Lifting
5 min bike and plyo warm up
    -circuit 3x through
    -DB Snatch 5ea 30lb
    -Abs - 5 min abs/variety
    -1 Leg Bench Squat 6xea 25lb ea
    -Ball Leg Curl 8x

    -circuit 3x
    -Step ups 6xea 25lbea
    -Waterbuckets 8ea 10lb ea
    -Jump Rope 1min

Lunch @ 3pm: 3 eggs scrambled in ghee, sauteed veggies (green peppers, onions, mushrooms) in coconut oil with some old bay, strawberries

    Nap 4-5pm (very refreshing)

Dinner @ 6:15pm: Sweet potato with ghee (my new fav thing), mahi mahi with salt and pepper, supplements (multi, vitamin d, omega-3)

    Boxing @ 7:30pm
    -been sweating more than ever!
-jumping jacks, 4 second hold squats, plank holds, mountain climbers, supermans
    -jog/sprint in place
-lots of different combinations on the bags mixed in with squat jumps, crunches, kicking etc.

    Bed @ 11pm

Thoughts: Well I was super active today and it felt great! I think tomorrow I will go for a longer run since we will be on the bus for 7.5 hours! I think in general I am going to try to eat more food..we will see how that goes. This trip, food my be a little sparse in terms of "primal". I will do my best. Keep keepin' on everyone!

Wow, your workouts seem pretty intense!

I'm also thinking of signing up for a 5-k in May or June, because I'd like a goal to work towards with my running, so I totally know what you mean. I had to look up what a 'Warrior Dash' is, and the first image that the website displayed was people fording a giant muddy river...then jumping over hurdles.... then a lady doing all this in fairy wings! So, it's no wonder that your workouts are intense if that's what you're training for, haha. Looks absolutely fantastic and like a total blast.

    Hey Hilary!

Looks like you fell off the face of the planet as well I hit some snags a month ago and simply felt overwhelmed with everything going on in my life.

I've realized I miss checking in on this everyday though. And I miss your energy. I don't seemed to surrounded by enough positive people in my life, I've been noticing. I'll have to get on that.

Where have you been? Aren't you moving soon?

    Hope you're well!

    -Tess

I never thought I would be able to do it but it gives me good energy and I take some BCAAs right before and right after so I can recover and also not lose my progress.
I've been reading your journal so far and it's great! It reminds me a lot of myself actually! I'm an athlete too (swimmer) and I wonder sometimes if I could IF through AM practice. (5-7 am) It's so early so sometimes it would be nice to not have to worry about eating. Could you tell me a little more about the BCAAs you mentioned + recovery? Thanks!

Woahhhh dudesss. I am back! I have been off the map for a good year almost! not sure if anyone even would remember I was on here in the first place but I am back and excited to be! Let's just say in my move out west I fell off the primal horse big time and have been living it up in every possible un-primal way. With all of that, I feel like shit and need to get things back in order. So I came on here to get inspired by...myself! Looking back over this I feel like I am looking back on a different person! So much in my life has changed since last year. I moved to Cali with my boyfriend of 5 years. We moved in together, and then I moved out haha. So I am single, busy with work, and loving California but have really been unhappy with myself in terms of lifestyle. I feel heavier, dumpy, and less athletic. My goal is to feel like an athlete again and implement many of the primal "laws" to get there. I have never felt better then I did during the month of primal eating that I documented in this blog. Seriously...it was awesome. I slept so well, my knee (which has issues) was significantly improved, I didn't have crazy cravings for sugary stuff, and I just felt vibrant! I am so ready to get that back, and seeing my own past blog and others has finally inspired me. Ok, I will get down to details tomorrow but I just had to get something up here for myself for now. Keep on Keepin on. -BYD

Hey jfoster! I am going to go ahead and say since you posted this a solid 2 months ago that you mayyyy not care anymore about my answer haha. I apologize for being in another world. Anyway, while I haven't been consistent with workouts at all lately, I plan on getting back to them. I feel like the biggest thing is to not jump straight into fasted training or fasting in general until all things are primal and good for a bit. I didn't do it until I got my sleep right and my primal eating adjusted a bit. BUT once you feel good with all of that, it is really nice to train in a fasted state and I usually felt less hungry after working out too. BCAAs are just branch chain amino acids that basically prevent your muscles from breaking down due to working out in a fasted state. To be honest, I am not sure if they are necessary or not. I guess it depends what you are looking for. I am thinking of getting back into serious training again and I would probably do it to prevent muscle break down while still getting a lot of the benefits of intermittent fasting. If you just google it you can get a ton of info and it may sound beefy and manly but I took it and was in the best shape of my life and was just strong and more cut (in a good feminine way) than I have ever been. I do not know if that helps at all but I don't think it is a game changer but is certainly a supplement that can help. I left my stuff back in Maryland (tried to travel light) but I had some sort of delicious grape flavored supplement. Sorry again for having fallen off the face of the earth. How are things going with you??
