A lot of protein -> A lot of meat -> A big meal
Big meals tend to make people sleepy![]()
A lot of protein means too much to store for further use. Means it will be converted to glucose. You might be sensitive to glucose. Carbs would have the same effect.
Ofcourse this assumes that otherwise you have enough calories. High protein works only for short term coupled with calorie restriction for weight loss. If not interested in weight loss keep it low. Read Perfecthealthdiet.com
Protein contains tryptophan- a chemical naturally occurring in your body that helps promote sleep. Turkey has the one of the largest counts of tryptohan- or so ive been told.
You aren't getting enough sleep?
I know I might catch crap for this, but protein does cause an insulin spike. Probably what you are experiencing. Don't blame me for that bit of info.

There are 5 parts to this report. By way of Anthony Culpo's web site.
80g might be too much at once. I used to get the same way when I took protein powder. However, if I just eat a good meal with protein and carbs, I feel fine. Try scaling it back to see how you react.
