WHY Does CW Still Stick With the Same Message?

    Primal Fuel
As most (hopefully all) of us here no, CW is full of bovine excrement when it comes to healthy eating advice. We have all read over and over, in many books, that high fiber, low fat, etc. is not the way to go. Even the "new and improved" food pyramid is still based on grains (listing meat last, with the second smallest sliver behind fats).

    http://www.mypyramid.gov/pyramid/index.html

My question is WHY? If there are multiple studies proving Ancel Keys (for example) wrong, why do physicians still tout the same message? Why does the government, WHO, CDC, etc. still say low carb/paleo/primal is a fad?

Because people are too lazy to think for themselves -- groupthink is self-perpetuating. Because there are agricultural subsidies at stake and the interested parties lobby to keep them there. Because the litigious state of this country keeps medical practitioners super conservative in their thinking lest they be sued for malpractice because they're prescribing a diet that isn't in line with the government's guidelines (because, y'know, they're infallible).

    Follow the money.

There is very little to "sell" with regard to primal, it really is an anti-consumerist lifestyle by default. With healthcare, farming and most importantly congress bought and paid for by large corporations you have your answer.

    This.

Don't forget the FDA, USDA, ADA, AMA, ACS and AHA, and all the other 'super important acronyms' that make the rules that all must play by, whether they realize it or not.

Big business + Big government = fascism

You're just noticing the propaganda that keeps the house of cards up.

Ask any one of the thousands of lobbyists in washington. Watch "King Corn" (video) and you will see the light.

"Fat Head" is another movie that points out some of the reasons we're being given the messages that are dished out by the government and health care "experts."

Without the corn subsidies the whole food industry would come tumbling down and food prices would come up. Your taxes pay for cheaper food. Don't you love how that works.

As for physicians, most doctors don't reevaluate what they were taught in med school. They got scanty nutritional training as it is and what they did get was the party line, not the latest research. If they're part of a hospital or larger practice, they can get in trouble for advocating anything but what the administration has decided is the correct nutritional advice. Same with nutritionists. So they feed you what they got from the USDA, which is getting it from King Corn.

This is the best answer. Primal/Paleo eating is basically just natural meat and produce. That's about it. There is nothing to package or process into cute shapes or crazy flavors to keep changing and selling as the new thing. It would literally cripple the food industry, and I imagine at least a million jobs, if a primal diet was promoted as healthy. The government, big agriculture and all other financially interested parties will see that it never happens.
