    Eating to enhance a fast

    Primal Fuel
I just read The Perfect Health Diet and really enjoyed it! My favourite book atm.

Those guys recommend eating coconut oil (for medium chain triglycerides) and also fibre (for short chain fat production in the gut) during a fast to make it more ketogenic.

I couldn't find anymore info on the topic anywhere so I thought I would ask you guys

Would this break a fast or enhance it?

Would it be good for short 16hr daily fasts or longer ones?

Well technically it won't be a fast but that doesn't mean it won't be good for you.

my thoughts as well....fasting = not eating/taking in calories. Eating coconut oil = eating/taking in calories.

So you reckon it would just be calorie restriction and a person would be in ketosis?

IIRC, they were advocating a periodic day of ketogenic 'fasting' where the calories consumed would provide some sustenance without affecting ketosis. Basically, you extend your IF into a 36 hour zero carb experience.

I agree that calling it a fast is confusing.
