My Mom grew up on an island farm with bacon grease and lard as their primary fat supply. They ate fish, chicken, eggs, pork and beef. Fruit in season. Canned or stored veggies from their garden. Rarely sugar. She's going to be 97 this year, takes no meds and is going strong.
