    "The C Word"...

    Shop Now
OK, at my local store they sell Nature's Promise which claims to be hormone-free, grass fed, etc. But sometimes... they don't have that brand. Then I'll buy what they have on hand, probably not organic. Since I've upped my meat consumption a little since starting PB, how worried should I be about getting cancer down the road from eating eventual loads of non-organic meat?

How worried are you about being hit by busses and struck by lightning and hit by stray bullets?

im serious, do you only have one store for a 10 km radius from you place?

and like bane implied, just because you eat non-organic meat does not mean you will ever get cancer.
eating organic is one way to minimize the risk.

Ummm....I would not advocate regular consumption of conventional meat. Bio-accumulation is just too scary. You are what you eat and so is that little chicken or cow or pig or whatever, and if you eat it then you're inheriting its eating habits to a certain extent.

That being said, I don't mean to overstate the detrimental effects of occasionally eating CAFO meat. We all do, whether it's in restaurants or at friend or family events. Eating it occasionally will not kill you, but it might help to buy more of the good stuff when it's in stock so you don't find yourself relying on it more than you otherwise would.

    Thank you all.

There are three stores where I am. One has Nature's Promise a lot of the time, but not ALL of the time. The second store is smaller and farther away, so there are no guarantees if they have any of the good stuff at all. The third is the health food store, but the prices for the organic meats is crazy and shocking.

All my life I have heard, "Meat gives you cancer".

Thanks again for answering my "Noobie" question. But with five family members to feed, it is a valid concern.

Stock up when you can and don't sweat the other stuff.

Meat does not give you cancer.
