    Spirulina?

    Primal Fuel
    Does anyone have experience with this "miracle green"? I had never heard of it until today and am curious about others experiences.

    It's an algae. *shrug*

    It used to be big, now it's wheat grass. Highly nutritious per unit of mass, but in the end it's just a supplement, and an imbalanced one at that. If you're deficient in the minerals it provides you'll see an improvement, otherwise it's like eating more greens.

    Okay thanks. I am in class almost 8 hours per day so I figured it would be good to get some extra protein and greens all at once.

    We take a tablespoon of Spirulina AND a tablespoon of Chlorella every morning in our smoothie. We also add fruits, and some other supplements.
    We have found the BEST prices here, we order the 5 lb bags for the best deals in both cost & shipping. The cost for shipping 1 lb and 5 lbs is the same.

    Thanks for that site Grizz, wow that's cheap. I bought some spirulina from Healthforce nutritionals for like $35/lb! It may be better quality, but damn.

    Anyways, I love spirulina. It's about a good a source of protein as there is in the plant world. You know how they say that too much protein can be rough on the kidneys? Well spirulina contains phycocyanin which actually helps regenerate the kidneys. I think it's a healthy addition to a good diet. It's a whole food, just dehydrated.

    Just beware how and where you eat it. It very easily sticks to your teeth and lips lol.

    I like it well enough. The first kombucha I tried was the "green" one with spirulina and stuff. Not bad. I like seaweed in general but haven't done much with it yet.

    I would be interested in trying it some time. What does it taste like? Looks like it might be kind of gross--not to say that I'd write it off for that reason alone.
