Hmmm, it's fall, it's Florida, time to forage the Wild Carambola. Well, actually my neighbor Dave told me last year to take all I want, they just fall on the ground, mostly becoming ant food.

I picked a few up and wondered if these were going to be another forbidden, you knew this was coming, fruit. I knew they aren't real sweet, so maybe they would be OK.

Well, well, well. Sure enough the small one I ate weighed 1.9 oz. The whole thing has a whopping' 2.2 net carbs!

Woo hoo! Fruit on low carb! And FREE!

Starfruit Salsa would make for a good side.

Great idea, maba! I so love mango salsa, but the sugars/carbs are outta sight.

Thanks for the suggestion. Off to Dave's for more foraging soon!

I've been struggling to find low carb fruits and had completely forgotten about starfruit -thanks for the reminder. I wonder what other tropical fruits are low carb? Off to research...

That sounds great! I will pick one today to add to our salsa. Usually I throw in a bit of mango with tomatoes for colors (we use chive flowers for my daughter's sake, so yellow and red and purple and green...)

My other low carb fruit is from the opposite climate: cranberry! I make smoothies with it or rhubarb!
