Thanks for the article. Very good information. I shared on FB for all my friends and family to be aware as well. I think I'll swap out my D3 for magnesium and see if I can find a supplement for K. But really, I should probably get my levels checked first. In any event, I'll stop taking D3. I was taking it for mood rather than a deficiency (but I haven't taken calcium since reading It Starts with Food a couple years ago and getting scared by the heart attack risk the chance of vascular calcification created).

Wt. 210.4. Same. Binged again last night. The exhaustion was overwhelming. I had to function until 10 pm when I really needed to sleep long before that. The plus of being on a high carb program is that I am not gaining a huge amount of weight. I am coming to accept that binging is a reality for me. I will continue to fight it, but I am not going to beat myself up for giving in..

Today is the annual redneck block party. A local guy cooks 2 pigs at the firehouse on our road. Neighbors and friends bring food and drinks for a buffet. People eat, drink and visit inside the FH and around the Bonfire in the parking lot. It is a lot of fun until people begin to get drunk and stupid. Lol We usually leave before then. It is going to be a cold one tonight.

    February PHD report

Lest the above post make you think Feb. was a bust, here is a recap. I started the month at 215.2. Today I am 210.4. I hit several new lows this month, the lowest being 207.6. I'm sure that I will get back down there in a week or so.

My energy and mood were good and stable until a few days ago. I had zero urge to binge until the very end of PMS Week. I did not binge at ovulation as I have in the past.

Sleep has been great, again up until pms.

Changes...The core tenet of PHD is to get a pound of starch. I realized about a week ago that I was measuring my daily rice by volume (1 cup) rather than weight (8 oz). I weighed "1 cup" and it was about 5 oz. So I was not really getting my pound in. I will now weigh rice like I weigh my potato.

I am also planning on really watching my "added" fat intake. Ie. Getting my fats from food rather than a bullet proof coffee. Paul Jaminet says that the fat level can be lowered to facilitate weight loss. For me, that really means measuring how much butter I am using and cutting a pm dose of co in my coffee.

Oh, and my reward for going to the gym this morning...I got to say "Good Morning" to Luke Wilson. He was in town filming a movie.

He was wearing this coat and sporting an awesome mustache.

    kmarie,

Carrots don't count in the pound of starch, but as part of a second pound of fruit and sweet veg that is allowed each day.

Something to consider for the future: some people find that rice doesn't work as well for them. It might be necessary that you have more potato than rice for the full pound of food.
