I put it on hold at the library as soon as I finished listening.

    Are you kidding me?

I like rice, but not as the center of my diet. Talk about carb cravings!

    Now I am sad.

Sabine, The crux of the plan is paleolithic, but they believe in higher starch. You do not have to choose white rice. You could use potatoes or other starchy tubers.

    1 lb starchy carb
1/2 to 1 lb meat and fish (ruminents over poultry and pork)
as much non starchy veg as you want.
    Healthy fats

Pleasure foods with limits: nuts, dairy, fruit, chocolate

No, Nos: wheat, sugar, legumes, bad oils

*I am going to give it a try. The only change would be about 50g more carb for me and switching out some of my chicken meals for other meats

Okay gang, this carb fear seems to be bordering on the ridiculous. Nothing in the Perfect Health Diet is anti Primal.

I meant to add above that they believe very strongly in IF. They recommend a daily eating window of 8 hrs, but something like JUDDD would work as well.

They also want people to get fermented foods in daily, so the kombucha, kefir crowd should be happy.

I was giddy happy to rinse org white rice, amazon, cheap, and have along side org green/yellow veggies and grass fed meat. I can't emphasize enough the difference in my mood. DH said, whatever you're doing lately, I love it 'cause you're a lot easier to live with, and we both love the aroma of rice cooking.

I have never had a sweet tooth, for me it was pasta, bread, homemade, sandwiches, hellman's, chips, etc. I lost the weight on Mark's plan but I was moody and felt deprived big time. PHD explained it so beautifully, it has become a PERFECT maintenance lifestyle. They are extremely smart. I never have carb cravings after eating rice, I do have it at dinner, BAS at lunch, nitrate/nitrite free bacon and eggs for bkfast. Org blueberries and walnuts are great snacks, dark choc every now and then.

Your right..Ugh. I saw white rice and thought that it was the center of it. I have been dipping my pinky toe into more primal starches. Please give a review of the book once you read it.

I might look at PHD stuff again at some point, though I don't think it's the solution to my whacked gut. Right now, I'm having a potato-only lunch and while it's fairly boring, it does seem to help my digestion. I just hope I can get to the point where I can have starches with protein more often (seems to screw me up more often than not right now).

I thought the book was good, but I didn't really find anything all that new (or that I couldn't find on their website or the web). But, it may be at this point I already "drink the Koolaid" and these books are really just subtle variations of the same/similar theme -- eat whole/real foods (and I'm pretty sure I've read just about every one of them at this point). Of course, some of these books "click" with certain people more than others, so if you can find it at the library, I think it's worth a read. They do advocate more starches than others.
