3 days ago I was in Florida, in the pool, and it was 80 degrees. Today in NY, sans pool, 10 degrees...and no snow either. : p

Any sun at least? Our Florida trip only reached to the low 70's, and home is only going down to the high 20's, so not as drastic as yours, but at least we have sun. I have a hard time being a Floridian and having to go days without sun. I guess there is a reason it is called the Sunshine State.

Yes we have sun, but it just isn't the same. I'm back to taking my vitamin D pills.

Yesterday was my first official rehearsal for the dance performance. I think I did well. It turns out that there will only be five dancers in the troupe this year, so I'd better practice a lot.

Yep I am back on my D3 as well. It is definitely a different sun here, way lower on the horizon.

today the high is 68!! WTH?? Tomorrow and for the unforeseeable future- cold.. Perhaps after work I can get some sun. I probably should be taking my D3.. I quit all my supplements when I was sick last.

We have sun here in Central WA, but we are not suppose to be in 50 degree weather! We need the snow desperatly to be able to supply water to the orchards this summer......could be horrible for our economy here if we dont see it yet/
Last year we were covered in snow by early December and it stayed through Feb, this year we have had two dustings

Tell us more about tribal dance. What is like? Sounds so fun compared to my boring endeavors

I agree! When DH and I took our honeymoon, part of it was a swing dance week in WV. The warm up was music called "Drums of Africa" loved it! Cannot find it. But we did a sort of swing/tribal thingy to it. It was a great week!

Well, American Tribal dance is a mix of movements from Middle Eastern Belly Dance, Indian Dance, African Dance and Flamenco.

In class we start with stretching. The toughest part is the foot stretch. We raise one foot and do ankle circles then we stretch our toes. It definitely hurts when we place the top of the foot against the floor. It would probably be better if I did the stretches every day. The rest of the warmup is flowing movement. The music is hypnotic, mostly percussion and wind instruments. After warm up, we work on basic moves - hip accents , circles and undulations, arm movements. I am always surprised at how specific the movements are. At the end of class we put the moves into a sequence and dance together. I think the power of Tribal Dance is that it is all about women; their beauty, power and sensuality; and the celebration of sisterhood. The teacher often talks about how different and special we women are. Very Cool!
