The snow we got this week (8 inches total) was too wet to stick around on the roads. It's still on our non-road areas, but it's melted everywhere else. Supposed to be warm (nearly 50's) this weekend so expecting a sloppy muddy mess to present itself. I'm ready for winter to be over. This winter we have gotten about 29.1 inches of total snowfall. Nothing compared to the New England states, and I don't know how that compares to previous years in the Midwest. I just know that nearly all of it has fallen in February and March. So annoying. #readyforspring

Did you actually read the study? Not very conclusive.

They saw inflammation signs in people who ate fast food for several meals a day and concluded that it was the salt? What about the nasty fats? The high carbs?
BTW One Mcd's meal could contain 2000-3000mg of sodium.

On a low carb diet, because the body flushes sodium, one can get away with the higher sodium content.

Much more sodium. 1 cube of bouillon has close to 1000mg sodium. You would have to salt the heck out of bone broth to get to the same level. Salt is only about 40% sodium.

Ah, okay, that makes sense. Out of curiosity (and I am not trying to be a jerk) where does the bouillon get the sodium if not from salt? Is it extracted somehow?

In the box of Herb Ox I have, the first ingredient is salt. Flavor is number 2 (also contains salt it says). The 2% natural flavor also contains salt.

There's a disodium inosinate (MSG alternative) and disodium guanylate (msg alternative). All of these ingredients add sodium.

In one packet of Herb Ox (chicken) there is only 1100 mg of sodium. I consume two packets at one time as the mug I use is a 16 oz travel mug.

Hmm...okay. Well, if the bouillon works for you all then cool. I was just curious.

I am trying for the 5000mg level of sodium recommended for people doing NK. To get there I use two cubes of bouillon in addition to the sodium found in the food I eat.

Last time I had a long run of days in NK, I became very lethargic. This seems to be helping.

If I weren't doing VLC, I wouldn't bother with the extra sodium, because it wouldn't be necessary.

PS I didn't think you were being a jerk.
