James, Sabine got it right. The HC is due to binging.

Jenn I think the bouillon brands all have basically the same terrible ingredients, but I find them helpful. I'll have to cheeck his blog for the explanation.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I have been doing organization projects in my basement. Yesterday I made another $800 clothing donation to the Salvation army which should help with taxes. I also returned an ugly impractical sweater and was able to replace it with 2 simple solid color cardigans due to post xmas sales.

Today my artist son and I went through all of the art supplies and organized the new office/study/guest space.

Tomorrow I intend to go through clothes being kept for my youngest and the xmas decoration boxes. Will we actually throw anything out? IDK...lots of emotional attachment.

2 clean days, but the temptation to eat sugar is intense. COOOOKIES!!!

My husband took a BUNCH of homemade goodies that were given to us for Christmas..... and gave them to homeless people. Great solution. Nothing wasted.

Things are the same. Starting back on HFLC tomorrow.

I hope that I have something that I can wear to school on Wednesday.

My goal for 2013 is to declutter and simplify/minimize our lives. I'm tired of having so much stuff.

Did the Salvation Army tell you how much you donated or did you estimate that yourself? I have about 15 large tote boxes full of baby/kids clothes that I plan to donate to the battered women's shelter. Just wondering how to estimate their value for tax purposes.

Crap! I just realized that today is the last day of the tax year... guess I'll do the donation for 2013's taxes. Normally I'm right on top of things with taxes b/c we usually get a pretty decent return. This year I'm apprehensive because we have a business and we didn't make much money on it - in fact, we shut it down. Hoping that doesn't come back to bite us.

I believe you have to calculate yourself.

The Salvation Army: Donation Receipts - Valuation Guide

They'll give you a receipt and you can fill in what items you gave, I think. I have only donated a couple of times (to a local truck that has a permanent spot in a grocery store parking lot), not enough stuff to give away that's usable!

We just do the drop offs as well. We never have enough stuff to get a good enough deduction on so its just not worth it.
