Traveling W30 - I packed food from home for myself and ate it at the rest stops while the boys had fast food.

We arrived in Sarasota FL at 5 pm after 11.5 hrs of traveling. We went directly to the pool. We were so exhausted that we went to bed at 10pm and didn't get up until 9 this morning. Of course we went right back to the pool first thing.

Oh man, normally I am not a big pool person, but it has been so hot this summer, that pool sounds like it would be wonderful!

Well, we are learning that in Florida in the summer everything gets done early in the morning or in the evening. We went to the farmer's market today and were back home by 11 am. We will make the daily pool trek this evening. Otherwise, we are enjoying resting and watching the Olympics in the afternoons.

My husband's plan to convince me that I do not want to live here year round when we retire is backfiring. It is hot, yes, but livable. The evenings are lovely.

It's also relatively cheap, has no income tax, and your NY teacher's retirement is actually a decent chunk of change down in sunny FL. Come to the darkside, become a Floridian
