    Question New routine - advice?

    Hi guys & gals,

    I recently got back into lifting after a few months off. I really like the idea of a simplified workout that focuses on compound movements. Previously, I was training each body part once a week, with decent results, but now I'm looking to switch it up. How does the below program look to you guys? My plan is to lift three times a week - so ABA one week and BAB the next. I also plan to throw a day (or possibly two) of sprints in there somewhere. Thanks!

    Workout A

    Squat 5 x 5
    Pull-ups 5 x failure
    Bench Press 5 x 5
    Seated Rows 3 x 8-10
    Incline DB Press 3 x 8-10
    DB Curls 3 x 8-10

    Workout B

    Deadlift 5 x 5
    Overhead Press 5 x 5
    Tricep Pushdowns 4 x 8-10
    Upright Row 3 x 8-10
    Calf Raises 4 x 10-12
    Ab work

    I think it's a pretty solid routine overall. You've got a lot of good exercises but I would change 3 things.

    You should try Australian pull-ups instead of seated rows, dips instead of tricep pushdowns and lunges instead of calf raises.

    Also, for your ab work, I suggest planks and side planks.
