Lets take advantage of the beautiful scenery we have to our disposal and go for a primal hike. The rain will be here soon so lets no delay too long. Ideas? Suggestions? Lets hear them! Remember, you can post ideas here or at grokinseattle@yahoo.com

I'm totally in! Maybe my husband can join me this time, esp if it doesn't coincide with Sat college football games (he's a big Gator fan). How about a Sunday? And something kid friendly. I have really been wanting to get out to Denny Creek - it's a short hike and you get to play on rocks at the river.

Great idea!
The one that comes to mind immediately as a local, pretty quick hike (3 hours round trip if your going pretty slow) is Rattlesnake Ridge in North Bend.
Otherwise there's Mt. Pilchuck (closer to Granite Falls.) But that one is pretty neat. (It's more of an all day thing though.)
I'd love to try some new ones if anyone has any good suggestions.

We would love to if our schedule allows!
Sofi, how long is the "short" Denny Creek hike? I think that or the 3-hourish Rattlesnake option sound good.
We're open on Sept. 20, Sept. 27.

This is awesome, guys. I love seeing this. If you're serious about it I'll get a link to this forum thread on the homepage so other Seattleites can see it.
I'm going to be holding a meet-up in LA soon, too. I'll be taking pics and sharing them. I'd love it if you all would do the same with this meet-up. Have a great time!

Okay, so let's make this a west coast romp: anyone from the Portland(-ish) area interested in hiking in the Columbia River Gorge? There are so many great hikes out there, and quite a few that are kid friendly.

Denny Creek looks great. The kids would love playing on the rocks. The weather should be high 60's to low 70's. How about Sunday, Sept. 20. 9am? Any thoughts?

Possible change of plans. Is Sat. the 19th better? Let me know so I can forward the info to Mark.
