Sloooooowly! I still haven't managed to get the pullup bar set up in the house - it involves drilling into the wall and I KNOW that I am a competent woman with no fear of power tools, but I DO fear the wrath of the house's co-owner (ie, the husband) if I manage to hang it with even half a degree of wonky. Plus, I can't seem to find the stud finder and keep forgetting to ask His ToolKeeperNess where it is.

So, I've been doing reverse pullups at the gym. The first two are good, I can hang for a good ten seconds or so and do a nice controlled descent, but after that they're crap. I'm gonna keep working on them though.

You'd think... but apparently I was not restrained enough, or maybe an hour-long hike with bits that suspiciously resembled uphill sprints was too much. Anyway, there is much soreness in the calves this morning! I went for a slow walk in my regular boots and it's better now though.

Half a pound down this morning.

    Food today:

    2 slices bacon
    one egg
2/3 cup or so leftover red cabbage (had some balsamic vinegar in it but not a significant amount, I don't think)
    1 stick landjaeger sausage
4 small slices cheese (approx 1.5 oz total)
1.5 cup leftover beef & pork heart stew with collard greens
    1 small avocado

Dinner tonight is going to be lamb chops, zuke potato & carrot latkes (of which I will have only one), butter-fried savoy cabbage, and salad. Fancy for a weeknight, but I've got time and a friend's coming over. I feel pretty stuffed after lunch here so I don't think I'll be needing to eat before dinner. Taking it easy today - I'm just going to do some pushups and take the dog for a long walk tonight.

ETA: My calculations put all that (including the cream I've had a few tbsp of in tea) at about 40 g for the day so I think I'll skip the latke. There will be other latkes.

I like having the bar always there over my patio constantly reminding me to get off my duff and do some every day. If you can do negatives that controlled, you are already way ahead of me. Keep up the good work.

Great day today - so far! The AGM for our strata is tonight and that will probably cause a minor headache but aside from that, the day's gone well. I fasted until 4 pm, with a heavy lifting workout at 2 and before that, a half-hour brisk walk with some running bits (to warm me up, it's actually snowing here a little today!). I had lots of energy for my workout and felt pretty strong - I used the assisted pullup thingy at the gym because some a-hole was hogging the smith machine I normally use. With a 60 lb assist I was able to do two sets of four perfect-form pullups. Dunno if that's actually good or not - I'm thinking not so much, as 60 lbs is nearly half my body weight. I also did 2 sets of 20 pushups, 2 sets of 10 85-lb squats, 2 sets of 8-10 shoulder presses with 35 lbs and 2 105-sec planks. I didn't feel hungry after my workout until about an hour and a half later, so I kept my snack until then.

    Food today:

    1 stick landjaeger sausage
    3 slices lyoner sausage
    2 small pieces cheese (< 1oz)
    1 mini cucumber

Dinner tonight is salmon (I allocated about 6 oz for me), green beans and salad if there is lifelike lettuce in the fridge, otherwise nibblies of cukes & green pepper. Then the dreaded strata meeting... dun dun duuuuuunnnnnnn... why did I let myself get talked into being on council?????

Snow day! Long walk tonight with the dog, on icy, slippy sidewalks so used new and interesting muscles, I'm sure.

    Food today:

2 scrambled eggs with butter, 2 slices bacon, 2/3 cup leftover cabbage
Few slices cold sausage, < 1 cup mushroom soup, 2/3 cup green beans, 2 small slices cheese
Few more slices sausage & cheese, 1 green pepper with baba ganoush dip
Approx 5 oz pork shoulder with small amount of mostly meat-juice sauce, 1 cup sauteed cauliflower with bacon & proscuitto
Several cups of tea with heavy cream

Was down to 131 this morning, net loss since Sunday of 1 lb.

Didn't snag the computer last night so forgot to record food for the day yesterday... Now I kind of forget what I ate, but none of it was bad (except I had to do a teeny bit of quality control on the mango I gave the child) oh and one tiny, partially fermented kiwi that was in the bottom of the fruit bowl and I felt sorry for it. It was all of two spoonfuls though, I doubt there were many actual carbs in there. Dinner last night was chicken wings (salt pepper & garlic powder) and stir-fried mixed veg, including broccoli which did NOT make me sick!!!! This is huge, I haven't been able to eat broccoli for nearly 20 years, as I would get horrible, double-over-in-pain cramps, diarrhea and bloating afterwards and if I'd had any alcohol at all with it I'd throw up. It was gruesome. Last night I was a little bloaty but I can deal with that, and I suspect a bit of beano may get rid of that altogether. YAAAAYYYYY!!! I love broccoli, and I've always been sad when I can't eat it. I guess not eating grains for 6 months or so really does fix up your gut.

Forgot to weight this morning too. Fast day today, workout later on, already did a 45-minute walk in the snow. Kinda done with the snow now. It can go.

Snow is not responding to my commands, damnit. Still out there, and more coming down. Child could not be more thrilled. Oh well.

So, no usual sproingy run for me this morning as the lake trail was beyond treacherous. Instead, I went to the gym and did Tabata sprints on the rowing erg. I don't think the erg is the best choice of equipment for these, but it was kind of fun, over in 20 minutes, and later on I DID feel like I'd had a workout. Then I took the dog for a looong hour+ walk which was nice, and involved a lot of walking on ice which used all my stabilizing muscles (effectively, I might add - didn't fall down once!).

Forgot to weigh again this morning, as I was too excited by my breakfast idea which turned out fabulous. I had one leftover zuke+carrot+potato latke left, I popped it in the toaster oven, made some bacon, whipped up some hollandaise and poached an egg. Paleo Benny. OMG SO GOOD. Even though I screwed up the hollandaise a little (it was a trifle thick - do not attempt to make hollandaise AND fix child's breakfast at the same time) it was still one of the better things I've eaten. Definitely will do that again! I'll put zuke latkes on the menu for later this week so next Saturday we can all have them. The husband got just bacon, egg and hollandaise and loved it, but the latke made it all so much better.

Lunch was some leftover mushroom soup and a salad. Nothing else so far today - dinner will be pork chops with a creamy mushroom & herb pan sauce, braised collard greens, and cauliflower rice. Mmmm mmm.

Oh, and I made myself a hot chocolate with cocoa powder, stevia, heavy cream and almond extract. It was not bad, but I could have cut back some on the stevia. I'm going to try it again when I next feel I need some hot chocolate.

Well, today was a good day, despite the scale not moving any. Food intake good (2 pieces beef jerky, smoothie (protein pwdr, egg, handful each arugula & sorrel, 3 strawberries, heavy cream), my weekly cup of coffee, steak & sashimi lunch (some pieces of deep-fried squid jumped in too, but they had extremely minimal coating), ground bison with herbs, onions & celery, and a nice green salad with some bacon bits.) I did a good workout (22 pushups in my second set!) and had a looooong walk in the cold rain, so I was going at a good clip to stay warm - out for about an hour and a half, probably walked 6 km or so. SO DONE WITH CRAPPY WEATHER. I wouldn't quite sell my child for a week of sunshine, but maybe my husband. Temporarily, anyway.

Tomorrow's a fasting day and no exercise except dog-walking and a trip to the mall because I need new t-shirts and layering long-sleeve shirts. All the ones I currently have are too big, and don't work for layering. I stocked up on pants on Friday - bought 4 new pairs, plus 2 skirts - at my favourite consignment shops, but I don't often find good plain shirts for layering there - people just wear them out I guess - I know I do. I was shocked to find that the size 8 pants were all too big for me, but I rather suspect there's more vanity sizing happening now, as the one pair of jeans that fits me (from 4 or 5 years ago) is a size 9. Seriously, one pair I bought - that are almost too loose, but too comfy to pass up - are a size 3. Now I need to wait for my mom to get here on Thursday, load her up with anything from my fat clothes that she wants, and take the rest to the consignment store.

Today was hard, as far as fasting went. I ate a pretty moderate dinner fairly early last night, and I felt kind of low-energy this afternoon, so I actually broke my fast at about 3:30 rather than the 4-5 pm I normally go to. And I scarfed 2 packs of snack nori (about 20 cals each, so not exactly significant), a 1 oz bag of savi seeds, 2 pieces of beef jerky and a stalk of celery with dip. Then I was good until dinner, which was a stirfry of veggies (broccoli, fennel, carrots, savoy cabbage, celery) and beef. There was some saucy stuff in there so not thoroughly low carb but I'd estimate I'm still under 20 g today.

130.5 this morning though. Getting there... getting there...
