    Caffiene Use / Wine

Two weeks into PB and not sure how caffiene use impacts results. Will a couple cups of coffee a day with coconut or almond milk interfere with results? Maybe a glass of wine on weekends...

I've not seen a negative impact from a cup or two of coffee a day. I drink mine black, but a few extra calories of coconut or almond milk can't hurt. If I know I'll be having a late lunch, sometimes I dose my coffee with heavy cream or coconut milk to stave off any potential hunger.

There are some benefits to drinking small/moderate amounts of red wine as well: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/low-carb-alcohol/ I'll be having a glass with my birthday dinner tonight!

If you are talking about weight loss "results" then I'm sure caffeine is totally fine. Actually I don't think caffeine is disallowed on any version of paleo.

I enjoy a daily cup or two of coffee and an occasional glass of wine, and have still been losing weight and feeling just fine.

tfarny - i'm pretty sure robb wolf recommends against coffee in his book. iirc, he calls it poison.

Not giving up coffee. Slowing down on wine -- couple of glasses once a week or less.

That dude thinks everything is poison and recommends against everything. He's the ultimate paleo-scold.

Hmm...i don't remember that. And would be surprised if he called it poison, considering his gym sells a "caffeine is life, gluten is death" tshirt. My book is currently loaned out but I'll have to try to find that reference when I get it back. He and Andy often talk about drinking coffee in the podcast, though do emphasize that there is a difference between a therapuetic dose of caffeine which may be beneficial and an over-indulgence/dependence on it which is not good.

Yeah Wolf drinks coffee I believe, has slowed it down. Andy Deas is drinking decaf, which is kind of stupid. I like coffee. I usually only have one cup a day in the morning. If anything it helps with weight loss, curbs appetite, releases fatty acids for oxidation and something else about catecholamines which... god knows what those are.
