BostonBully,
Mark discusses quinoa here:
quinoa is technically gluten free, it does contain a protein substance that has been known to cause digestive reactions in some. Use it sparingly.

It's high in carbs like wheat and I think it tastes pretty nasty but if you don't mind the carbs I don't see anything wrong with it. I'm sure someone will know more about the saponins and antinutrients in it.
I'd just eat some potatoes instead. Quinoa is insanely difficult to cook with, not very tasty, and loaded with protein (not such a good thing when it comes to plant foods).
I'm also sick of articles stating that it's "related to leafy vegetables." Quinoa is not a leafy vegetable, but essentially a grain, nutritionally speaking.
If you're not afraid of carbs, just have some potatoes instead.

Try it, see what it does to ya!
Why would anyone want to eat quinoa? It tastes disgusting.

I like quinoa, but it gives me the same bottomless-pit problem that rice does: I can just eat it and eat it and never get full.
Quinoa difficult to cook with? Really? I always just cooked it like rice and it was done. Add whatever you want like a pilaf. Simple, easy and tasty. Just make sure you rinse it well before cooking as it does have a bitter substance on it that can ruin the taste. Tastes a little nutty to me otherwise.
But
Its really high in carbs and calories. 1 cup of cooked quinoa is insanely high calorie. I don't try to pay much attention to calories but...wow its a lot for just one cup(and really, its like rice, you can't just eat a tablespoons full)
Calm the f**k down.
Quinoa tastes great especially with butter and is incredibly simple to prepare - easier than potatoes. I would buy the red organic South American blend as opposed to the American Costco brand. It has 6 grams of protein per quarter cup!. Anyone who does any amount of exercise needs carbohydrates.
I've never actually had it but it isn't because I'm afraid of carbs. I eat potatoes when ever I feel like it. Except for grains, sugar, soy and vegetable oils I refuse to not eat something i want because it is high in carbs. I just work harder in the gym. I'll have to try some and see if it's any good. Thanks for the replies.
