5 yo daughter was drawing on a piece of paper with a Sharpe, thus breaking the cardinal rule of "no using Sharpes." son said "MURDER HER!!" and i said "BURN HER AT THE STAKE!!" to which she replied smugly:

    "Mmm...steak!"

I have the "forbidden sharpe marker" rule too! Spent too much time cleaning a hard wood floor after my oldest colored it "pretty" when she was little. Too funny through ....mmmm steak!

oh yes, we've had some mishaps with sharpes. oh and i can't tell you how many times i've taken pocket knives away. my daughter has this lovely habit of leaving them open, on the floor, in the midst of a mess of toys. thankfully, they have their own toy room so they're only endangering themselves (as opposed to endangering the bean). that was months ago and i still haven't given them back yet.

i think there's a cultural reference there that i'm not privvy to.

the kids and i went out for brunch today. the older two ordered crappy food (french toast, chicken strips and fries) while i ordered "migas": scrambled eggs, potatoes, green chili, smoky sausage, with a side of sour cream. however, the weather's got me down (near freezing, windy and raining), so i'm going to perk myself up with junk food. cookies, or chocolate cake? i also promised the daughter that i'd take her out for dessert tomorrow, should be a fun little date. hubby's coming on Friday; i'm thinking of going low carb after monday's dessert.

oh, and i bought a new/used bike trailer. the old one is mildewy (this is the condition it was given to me in), and the straps for the kid look uncomfortable, so i really didn't like using it. the new/used one also seats one kid or two. so as long as i get my bike into shape, i plan to pick the kids up from the babysitter with my bike. i'm itching to use it, but the weather's so shitty.

the sun finally came out, but it's still cold and windy. dinner should be something from the oven.

I'm in the market for some new music to play; something intermediate and fun to play alone, preferably in the format of a book
(more cost effective). i should take out my old suzuki books and look through them.
