    Freekeh - good, bad, meh?

Was wondering what people think of Freekeh in the Primal scheme of things.

For those who don't know, it's Wheat. <gasp>

But it's green wheat, roasted, smoked etc. Apparently much better for one - but it's still wheat.

    info can be found here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freekeh
    http://www.greenwheatfreekeh.com.au/

I've tried it, tastes great. But more than happy to drop it like a hot spud.

    What are peoples thoughts?
    Cheers,
    FarmerBen.

I looked online and Freekeh (or farik) is not gluten free. Since gluten is what makes wheat so especially bad (as opposed to merely carby, like a potato or another grain), I would avoid it.
Plus, a lot of the theory here is stuff Grok could have made and/or is minimally processed. It sounds like there's a lot that goes into roasting and prepping this stuff.
You don't need it, and it sounds as harmful as other wheat. I say avoid.

OTOH. Gluten is not the bad part if you have the genes to digest it. Lectin and phytates are another story. Being green and immature I am wondering if those issues still exist.

    OTOOH why bother?

The name makes me LOL. Sounds freak-ey.

Plus it's wheat, so it's a pass from me too.
